The Jamaat-e-Islami Shura (Parliament) has prepared 13 terms of reference for investigation of Panama Leaks for presentation to the All Opposition Parties Conference” on 2nd May and the government to end corruption in all walks of life and bring back the plundered national money deposited in off-shore companies and banks.
Announcing the TORs at a press conference here on Friday, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Sarajul Haq said that a powerful commission be constituted headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan to investigate the Panama leaks pertaining to the Prime Minister’s family to begin with. Parliament should legislate to give legal cover to the empowered commission, if necessary.
The judicial commission should direct the Prime Minister, his family members and 200 other Pakistanis named in the Panama leak papers to submit details of their assets in and outside Pakistan, documents, accounts and off-shore companies in fifteen days. The JC should also obtain information about assets and source of income from the Pakistanis named in the Panama leaks. It should also direct FBR to give details of income tax paid by these people.
The Commission should get information from the commercial banks, State Bank of Pakistan, financial institutions, Security Exchange Commission and other international financial institutions whether money was transferred abroad legally or illegally. State Bank of Pakistan, Security, FIA, NAB and other investigating agencies be made directly answerable to the judicial commission so that no official pressure could be put on them.
The Judicial Commission should complete its findings in two months. Senator Sarajul Haq appealed to the Chief Justice to accept this gigantic task as a national duty for this is the last chance to bring back the looted money and hold the powerful accountable to the nation.
