The military will mobilise all available resources in its operation against gangsters hiding in the Kacha areas of Punjab’s Rajanpur District, Director General ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa tweeted here Saturday.
“Whatever resources required, will be employed to accomplish mission and updated Info about the operation will be shared regularly,” he said. The Punjab government asked for support from Pakistan Army after several attempts of police failed in overcoming the notorious Chhotu Gang.
The DG ISPR stated that army troops took charge of the operation Zarb-e-Aahan in Kacha areas. Army troops reinforced its cordon around hideouts of Chhotu Gang and his armed accomplices.
Police and Rangers already involved in the operation will continue to participate under the Army. Six policemen were killed and 25 others were held hostage by the gangsters during various police operations.
Operation against the gang began on April 1. Pakistan Army, Rangers, Punjab Police took part in the joint operation against the infamous gang belonging to the Kacha Jamal area.
It is reportedly said that this is not the first time an operation against the Chhotu Gang has been launched by police. Earlier, in 2010 and 2015 similar operations were launched against the gang, but those operations did not bear fruit.
