WEB DESK: Supreme Court of Pakistan has struck off model Ayyan Ali’s name from the Exit-Control List as the court maintains that she hasn’t been convicted in any case yet, Aaj News reported.
On March 07, Sindh High Court (SHC) also issued instructions for removal of Ayyan Ali’s name from ECL but the implementation of this order was time framed to implement within 15 days upon custom officials request.
The custom authorities filed a complaint in Supreme Court against SHC order. In the wake of this complain, SC summoned all concerned parties and issued a stay order upon SHC’s decision.
Customs officials said if Ali was allowed to leave the country, she may not return to face legal proceedings still pending against her.
Ali’s prosecutor said that his client has to visit her mother in Dubai and she has some business deals to cater, if not allowed to, she will face serious losses.
Accepting Ali’s claims as substantial reason, Supreme Court dismissed custom officials demand.
Ali was taken in to custody from Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, under charges of alleged smuggling of US $500,000.
