WEB DESK: B Town big wigs rolled out the perfect red carpet to welcome the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and leading the contingent was King Khan and Ash.
The mega star looked no less than a dapper in a white tuxedo and was the apple of all eyes along with the gorgeous Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
In his crisp welcome speech, SRK spoke about the virtues of motherland India and described it as one of the warmest and most colourful nations that the Royals will ever visit in their lives.
“All of us present here have had long standing relationship with Great Britain and of course over the years it might have become closer. My kids are studying there and I have been hearing a lot more about the Royal Highness and the work that they have been doing. I just got to hear and read an interesting stuff that his Royal Highness said and that is, ‘It is quite ambitious wanting to help people’ and I just want to add that we all in this room are here to extend our support to your ambitions and all the challenges you support.
“I have also read her Royal Highness say, ‘I don’t know if I have a favorite colour.’ I just want to assure you maam, Your Royal Highness even though your stay is extremely short here in India, you will go back finding more than one favourite coloúr from this country. India is the most colourful and the warmest of the nations that you will ever visit in your lives. On behalf of all those present, I wish you a very warm welcome to India,”said Shah Rukh Khan as quoted by Indian Express.
The Dilwale star also quipped that he couldn’t dance at the event as the British consulate had warned of denying him a British visa for 10 years if he broke into a jig.
The royal couple, Will and Kate arrived in Mumbai on 10 April morning kicking off their six day tour of India and Bhutan.
As they spent their first evening in the film capital of India, 200 of the biggest names in the Indian film industry turned out to entertain the royal guests in true Bollywood style.
The couple mingled with India’s most celebrated personalities from the worlds of film, sport and commerce, but Bollywood dominated with actors Aamir Khan, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Shilpa Shetty, director and producer Karan Johar, Slumdog Millionaire star Anil Kapoor with Sonam and Arjun Kapoor, veteran stars Rishi Kapoor and wife Neetu Singh, Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar all eager to welcome the royal visitors to their beautiful city.
