WEB DESK: As the list for potential captain for limited-over format submitted to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today, let us rank the past T20 captaincies according to Pakistan’s wining average under their captaincy.
Shahid Afridi was at his worst when it came to captaincy for T20 format. In 43 matches under his leadership, Pakistan won 19 matches and lost 23 with one tied. He is a current T20 captain under serious threats of losing his captaincy due to Pakistan’s early defeat in WT20.
Afridi’s 45.34 average percentages makes him worst among all T20 captains.
Pakistan lost 11 times under his leadership bringing him down to fifth number with an average of 60.34.
Pakistan have won its only World Twenty20 title and it is under Younis Khan’s captaincy. He gets to captain Pakistan for only eight matches out of which he won five matches.
Losing only three times during his captaincy, veteran Younis Khan secured fourth position with an average of 62.5.
Shoaib Malik stepped down in ground with a captaincy cap on his head for 17 times in which 12 times Pakistan manages to vanquish their opponent. With four times losing under his captaincy, he sustains number three position with an average of 73.52.
With a record similar to Younis Khan, he played eight matches in which Pakistan took the winning trophy for six times, losing only twice. He stands at number two with an average of 75.
