The singer, who is known for her soulful voice that gets under your skin, has come out with yet another number directed at an ex-lover, and this time it’s on moving on. In many ways, this seems like a sequel to Hello, where she was singing about hanging on to her lover, the hurt caused and if he still felt the same. In ‘Send My Love’, Adele is all ready to move on, with a message to the ex, saying he’d better treat his new lover better than he did her.
Here’s how the lyrics of the song go:
“Send my love to your new lover
Treat her better
We’ve gotta let go of all of our ghosts
We both know we ain’t kids no more…”
Echoing the sentiment of the lyrics, the music of her latest number is definitely more upbeat and celebratory. After ‘Hello’ and her last single ‘We Were Young’, both of which were soulful numbers with Adele using her voice to full effect, this new song has a much younger feel to it, without compromising on the octaves, but pumping it up with a fun chorus.
The video and music are both minimalistic. The former just has the gorgeous Adele in a floral Dolce & Gabanna commanding the screen, and the latter is mainly an upbeat bass guitar riff with a bit of groovy keyboards and drums thrown in.
Going by initial reactions, this is going to be yet another feather in Adele’s already full cap, though the verdict on the videography stands a bit divided.
