Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) will be given free hand to counter terrorists in Karachi, Aaj News reported on Sunday night.
Important decisions were made at a high level meeting at Corps 5 Headquarters where Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, National Security Advisor, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad, Corps Commander Naveed Mukhtar and Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal attended.
Aaj News quoted sources as saying that it was decided at the meeting that extension in rangers’ special powers duration would be granted.
It was also decided that legislation would be carried out to empower law enforcement agencies.
The meeting decided to speed up operation against the militant wings of the political parties. Police was directed to intensify action against the criminals. -Business Recorder
