ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram praised pacer Mohammad Amir and termed him to be the ‘future of Pakistani cricket.’
Talking to a private news channel on Monday, Wasim said, “Amir is a brilliant bowler and the future of cricket in the country.”
Wasim also revealed the advice he had granted to Amir. “I told Amir to focus on only one thing; cricket. Leave everything else.”
Amir made an international comeback earlier this year during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand after he was banned from cricket for five years when he bowled deliberate no-balls for money.
The left-arm pacer donned Pakistan colours in the Asia Cup T20 and ICC World T20 this year. He has been drafted in the 17-man squad for the upcoming tour of England.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is hopeful that the 24-year-old will be granted a visa by the British immigration authorities this week.–APP
