Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid has said that it is too early to discuss about the ‘extension’ in army chief’s tenure.
Talking to media persons after attending Namaz-e-Janaza of prominent broadcaster Agha Nasir in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said that those calling upon the Army Chief to take over the country were fools. “Such people are fools and do not want good for the country,” said the minister.
When asked about Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Senator Aitzaz Ahsan statement that the banners were a ploy by the government to put pressure on the opposition and were being used to create an atmosphere of uncertainty, Rashid said that the banners also contained the phone numbers of those who put these on and TV channels had run interviews of those.
He said that Aitzaz was nowadays under influence of ‘non-serious’ people and he should adopt democratic way.
The minister said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after successful heart surgery in London has returned the country and resumed his work.
To a query he said PML-N was not utilising official machinery in Azad Jammu and Kashmir to win polls. He said that PML-N would win polls on its performance.
Earier, the minister said that Agha Nasir’s contribution in the field of art, culture and especially in establishing Pakistan Television would be remembered for forever.
The minister prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with fortitude. -INP
