Raja Farooq Haider Khan of Pakistan Muslim League-N has been elected as new Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Raja Farooq Haider Khan secured 38 votes while a joint candidate of Muslim Conference and PTI Ghulam Mohi ud din Dewan and Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen of Pakistan Peoples’ Party bagged five votes each.
Oath taking ceremony of the newly elected Prime Minster would be held in Muzaffarabad on Sunday afternoon.
AJK President will administer oath to the new Prime Minster of the state.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has congratulated Raja Farooq Haider on being elected as Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.
In his facilitation message he expressed the confidence that new Prime Minister will work for the development and prosperity of the people of Azad Kashmir. He hoped that the new PM will support the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir in their just and legitimate struggle for their right of self-determination.
The Prime Minister assured the newly elected Prime Minister of AJK for carrying out the development and reforms agenda of the Federal Government in Azad Kashmir which aims at revolution arising the lives of people socially, economically and politically.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi have congratulated Raja Farooq Haider Khan on his election as Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
In their separate felicitation messages, they said the election of Raja Farooq Haider Khan is a manifestation of confidence of the leadership and the members of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly reposed in him.
They expressed the hope that under the sagacious leadership of Farooq Haider the AJK Assembly will play more vital role in strengthening the democratic norms and institutions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also felicitated Raja Farooq Haider on being elected as the new Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
In his message, he hoped that the newly elected Prime Minister of AJK will fulfill the expectations of his people. -RadioPakistan
