RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Friday made a telephone call to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and asked him to help in safe and early recovery of the crew of the Punjab government’s Helicopter.
On Thursday, at least seven people are being held hostage by Afghan Taliban after a Punjab government helicopter made an emergency landing in Afghanistan over unknown reasons.
The helicopter MI-17 carrying six Pakistani engineers was travelling to Uzbekistan for maintenance before it crash landed in Logar area of Afghanistan.
The plane was set on fire by the Afghan Taliban, who also held Pakistani officials and a Russian pilot hostage.
According to the Tweet by Director General ISPR Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa, Afghan President assured all possible assistance in this regard. -APP
