The Railways Ministry will establish green railway corridor on both sides of railway tracks. An agreement was signed in this connection in Lahore today on Monday between Pakistan Railway and Pakistan Horticulture Association.
Under the agreement forty kilometers long corridor will be completed in one and a half year at an estimated cost of 820 million rupees in the first phase of the project.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said the purpose of this project is to provide a clean and healthy environment to the passengers as well as people living in surrounding areas.
He said the corridor will include modern cafe, gym and libraries to facilitate the public and trees will be planted on the sides of railway track.
He said the project initiated for the first time in the country will also be implemented in other cities. -Radio Pakistan
