WEB DESK: A shoemaker has landed himself in jail after he boasted to the media that he was going to send Peshawari sandals made from deer’s skin to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Noor Jehan, SRK’s cousin in Peshawar, said that on King Khan’s special request she approached shoemaker Jehangir Khan and asked him to make two pairs of Peshawari chappals (in Kaptaan Chappal style) for the actor so she can take them to India with her on her visit.
The shoemaker happens to be a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan, so when asked for such a request, he decided to gift his idol special Peshawari chappals made from deer skin.
“Apparently Jahangir Khan is a big fan of Shahrukh and decided to send the Bollywood star a special gift, Peshawari sandals made out of deer skin, from his side,” a local police official said.
“Soon after the news spread, the wildlife department officials contacted us and filed a complaint. We had to go and pick up Jahangir who is now behind bars,” he said.
A wildlife official in Peshawar said that the probe is on to confirm whether deer skin was used by Jahangir in making sandals. “If he has used deer skin than he will face fine and prosecution as under wildlife laws,” the official said. Shah Rukh Khan is hugely popular in Pakistan.
However, a latest update in the report reads that Jahangir has since been released from jail. A wildlife official said, “We have taken the deer skin chappals for examination to see whether they are made of deer skin or of other animal. We’ll find out the result on Monday.”
Noor Jehan also added that she spoke to Shah Rukh Khan last night and he specifically told to come with the Peshawari chappals when she comes to visit India.
