WASHINGTON: Former president Pervaiz Musharraf said democracy is not preferable for Pakistan as elected governments do not perform well and Army always played a critical role in this regard, Aaj News reported.
As reported, while giving an interview, he said,”Democracy is not preferable in Pakistan. Elected governments do not perform well due to lack of checks and balances in the system”.
Former President further said,”People of Pakistan always loved Army and have numerous hopes as well”.
“Army has been helping in state’s leadership since the day Pakistan got independence simply because democratically elected governments failed to rule appropriately”, Pervaiz Musharraf further stated.
Former President went abroad in March for medical checkup after Supreme Court’s permission. His name is being eliminated from ECL for three years.
