Justifying his party’s decision to boycott from joint session of the parliament, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that Nawaz Sharif has lost all moral legitimacy to be prime minister
Talking to reporters after inaugurating Hayatabad Sports Complex in Peshawar on Wednesday, Imran Khan said that the primer should resign or present him for accountability.
On the occasion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, provincial minister for sports, Mahmood Khan, Additional Chief Secretary, Azam Khan, and others also accompanied the PTI chairman, Imran Khan. “Nawaz Sharif is involved in money laundering and Panama Papers scandal, thus he has lost moral legitimacy to be a Prime Minister, he accused. “I stand by decision to boycott Joint Session as nothing new will be achieved that was not achieved with PTI’s active participation in APC.
But I want to ask how any politician with a moral compass can accept a PM who has been caught money laundering in Panama Papers,” he said. “Mian Panama Sharif has been caught money laundering, tax evading & hiding of assets thereby losing all moral legitimacy to be PM,” he further said.
The PTI chairman said that the PM has only two options now, as to other democratic PM had after Panama leaks: to go the Cameron route presenting him for accountability or to resign like PM of Iceland did.
While announcing his decision yesterday, Khan said he doesn’t consider Nawaz Sharif as legitimate Prime Minister of Pakistan and going to the parliament means lending him legitimacy.
“Nawaz Sharif has convened the joint sitting of the parliament to save himself from Panama probe,” he said, adding there was no need to call the session.
Earlier, addressing at inaugural ceremony, PTI chief said that the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf led coalition government has prioritised the promotion of sports in the province.
He stated that the youth of KP had unmatchable talent but shortage of sports facilities has undermined their promotion in the past.
As part of promoting sports activities in the province, the present government has successfully completed the construction of international standard hockey turf at Mardan Sports Complex at an expense of Rs 67.69 Million.
The Hockey turf was completed by the present government on fast track basis making it the only international standard turf available in the province.
Additionally, Sports Kits worth 10 Million were distributed among players of different games for promoting healthy and recreational activities in the province. The Kits were purchased and distributed in a record three months’ time.
Talking on the occasion, the Chairman advised the younger generation to indulge in games as the government was willing to promote sporting events all over the province.
