SUKKUR: Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Religious Affairs and Zakat & Usher, Senator Dr Abdul Qayoom Soomro Monday said that PPP supports democracy and democratic institutions in the country and want the present elected government to complete its tenure successfully.
In an exclusive interview with APP, he said that that PTI would not be able to achieve anything adding that Imran’s politics was immature and protest rallies and demonstrations were the right of political parties but constitution did not allow closure of any city.
Senator Soomro said the Sindh government was attaching priority to the maintaining peace, as it was a prerequisite for rapid development.
He said all resources were being utilised for the protection of life and property of citizens.
He said Ulema of Sindh had played an effective role in promoting peace and harmony and they would continue making such efforts in future as well.
He said that nation will have to unite on a platform for the stability of the country and elimination of terrorism and extremism, foiling the nefarious designs of anti-state elements.
Dr Abdul Qayoom Soomro said that there was a need for maintaining unity for making Pakistan a haven of peace and foil nefarious designs of the enemy.
He said that law enforcement agencies had rendered glorious services for maintenance of law and order and protection of life and property of citizens.
He said that the provincial government of Sindh with the support of security forces have made effective measures in this direction and achieved successful results in the restoring peace.
Responding to a question on CPEC Project, the Senator said that Asif Ali Zardari had visited China around 20 to 22 times and made agreements with the Chinese government for joint ventures in bringing improvement in various sectors of the country.
Sindh would be the major beneficiary of the project and the completion of project would improve the socio-economic condition of the common people of the country, he added.
He said that provincial government is also giving top priority for improvement in health and education sectors and initiated efforts to provide maximum benefits to the masses of the province from these key sectors.
To another question, he said the Sindh government is striving hard to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) in the province in letter and spirit, and this is the only way to purge the province of terrorism, extortion, kidnappings for ransom and target killings.
Dr Soomro further said that minorities including Hindu, Christian, Parsi, Sikh and other communities are enjoying complete religious freedom in Sindh.
“The Sindh Government has always given importance to the rights of minorities and for this it has established Minorities’ Affairs Department” added the Advisor.
He further said that for protection of minorities a full-fledged Ministry of Minorities Affairs established due to which Hindu Marriage Act-2016, Sindh Matrooka Imlak and Missing People Act, Sindh Minorities Rights Commission Bill 2015 implemented in the Province of Sindh and proved that Pakistan Peoples’ Party is only democratic power of province to protect the right of minorities.
He said that PPP is the only political party in Pakistan taken protective measures to immerge minorities in the society and bring them into the mainstream.
The advisor further added that peaceful and developed Pakistan is the mission of his party.-APP
