Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman on Friday made it crystal clear to the government that he would not stop chasing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif unless the latter presents himself for accountability.
Talking to media at his Bani Gala residence after the government stopped him from attending a rally organised by Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed at Lal Haveli in Rawalpindi, he said, “The tsunami of people will wipe out all police barricades on November 02”.
The PTI chief who once again declared Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a ‘monarch’, warned, “Listen Nawaz Sharif, if you’re watching this on TV that I’ll follow you till my last breath and if you put me in jail, I’ll come after you when I get out.”
He came down hard on the government for what he said ‘putting him along his party leaders under unofficial house arrest’.
He also put the judiciary to test and said ‘it is a test case for judiciary. “When IHC directed [authorities] not to block Islamabad, why Bani Gala was sealed”, he questioned.
Explaining his decision not to resist police for going to Rawalpindi, he said: “We were going to Pindi to prepare for November 02, but when they [police] stopped us, as you know there is no point in doing this today when our target is November 02”.
Imran said that he will tell the government during the Islamabad protest what the power of people actually is. PTI chief said that although Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chants the mantra of democracy, he does that just to safeguard his corruption, adding ‘the cronies who stand by him [Sharif] know that if Nawaz Sharif is arrested, they will also be sent to prison as they are also corrupts’.
“To hide his corruption, he does not respect any law… to hide his corruption, he uses the language of Modi against Pakistan Army,” he alleged. “We did not impose Section 144 in Kohat as the prime minister was going there, because there is rule of law,” he added.
He said that even 30,000 policemen cannot stop him from going to capital on November 02 and directed party workers to avoid arrest and gear up for the planned protest in Islamabad.
The PTI chief warned the police against resorting to any illegal means. “We will put all those [policemen] in jail who resort to violence and illegal practices along with the two brothers [Nawaz, Shehbaz],” he said.
Imran also said that Bani Gala is the headquarters of the party where all the planning about November 02 lockdown of capital is taking place, which he insisted ‘will be revealed later what they are going to do against the government’.
“I can’t tell you everything, and you’ll see what we’re going to do on November 02”, he added. PTI chief also warned Islamabad and Punjab Police, saying any attempt to arrest him would only enrage his supporters and bolster his party’s resolve to lock down Islamabad.
Earlier, senior PTI leadership including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jahangir Tareen, Asad Umar, Dr Sheeren Mazari and Aleem Khan, held a crucial meeting with the party chairman at his Bani Gala residence.
A senior PTI leader present in the meeting said that the meeting discussed a strategy in he wake of PTI workers’ harassment, who are being stopped from entering Islamabad to take part in the party’s upcoming sit-in in the capital.
