ISLAMABAD: Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi on Friday ordered the concerned authorities to arrest Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan and Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid, Aaj News reported.
Police and Frontier Constabulary (FC) surrounded the residences of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed in Rawalpindi in the wee hours of Friday.
Police had already sealed the Lal Haveli, residence of Sheikh Rashid, by placing containers in front of its main entrance ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf public meeting.
While responding to the govt’s move of sealing his residence, Sheikh Rasheed, chairman of AML said that the public gathering would take place as usual. He hinted at the possibility of imran Khan arriving his residence through helicopter.
The federal government has already implemented Section 144 in the twin cities which bars public gatherings and the use of loudspeakers. But Rashid has vowed to violate the ban on his public gathering scheduled today (Friday). “I will tear the Section 144 in 144 pieces,” he said.
On late Thursday night, police arrested two political workers of Awami Muslim League (AML) form outside the Lal Haveli Sheikh Rasheed residence.
Reports claimed that at least forty police vans were out side the Lal haveli. However, Sheikh Rasheed said that the public meeting will be held on Friday. He said, “Gullu Butts of the Police are outside the Lal Haveli”.
Earlier, there was a police crackdown during a convention of the PTI’s youth wing in Islamabad.
