ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Chief (PTI) Imran has convened a meeting of the party’s parliamentary group today to reconsider its decision to boycott Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s address to a joint session of the parliament, Aaj News reported.
According to the reports, PTI Chief has called on an important party meeting in Bani Gala today regarding the arrival of Turkish president and joint session of parliament.
Speaking to media after meeting the Turkish ambassador, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the purpose of the meeting was to inform why PTI was not going to attend the joint session of the parliament.
“We have immense respect for the Turkish president, while party chief Imran Khan has strong ties with Recep Tayyip Erdogan,” he said. “We only want people to understand our principle stance and the decision we made.”
“This was not a diplomatic meeting, but a friendly one,” said the PTI leader. The reason behind the meeting was longstanding ties between Turkey and Pakistan, he added.
