ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider Monday said that Pakistan could not remain oblivious to brutalities in occupied Kashmir by Indian forces.
Addressing a news conference here after his visit of European Union (EU), he urged the EU to insist upon India for stopping human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir.
Farooq Haider said he along with his delegation presented the Kashmir issue in a new dimension emphasizing that “it is the fundamental right of Kashmiris to decide their future after getting freedom from India”.
He called upon the European Union to send a fact finding mission in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) to analyze bleak human rights scenario in occupied territory.
The PM said that Indian Army intentionally targeted the civilians settled near Line of Control (LoC), adding many civilians became victims of Indian firing during the last two weeks.
He said the war between India and Pakistan, if started, could be prove as devastating for the whole region.
The AJK Prime Minister also said implementation of the UN resolutions on Kashmir should be assured.
He said Pakistani and Kashmiri youth settled abroad especially in the European Union would be engaged to sensitize the European people about the lingering dispute.
Farooq Haider said there were concerns in the European Union about human rights violations and the use of pellet guns by the Indian troops. Resolution of Kashmir dispute was imperative for durable peace in South Asia, he added.
He also appreciated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s efforts for forcefully raising the Kashmir dispute at the UN General Assembly session. Raja Farooq Haider expressed his satisfaction over people of Pakistan, government, foreign office and its policy regarding Kashmir issue.
The PM congratulated the Federal Government for the beginning of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and said it was a game changer for Pakistan as well as the whole region. Answering a question regarding Gilgit Baltistan (GB), Farooq said he considered GB as a part of Kashmir and hoped that if referendum would be conducted in Kashmir the people of GB would vote in it. -APP
