ISLAMABAD: A five member larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa adjourned the hearing of Panama case till tomorrow, Aaj News reported.
Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) lawyer Advocate Taufiq Asif continued arguments before the court. JI’s counsel maintained that Panamagate case is about the Sharif family, not the government.
Justice Asif Saeed Khosa said the political parties should wait for the final final verdict of the apex court in the Panamagate case instead of delivering speeches or resorting to political commentary outside the court.
He said that during proceedings the judges ask questions to understand the case. These questions should not be taken as remarks.
Justice Azmat Saeed confronted the counsel of Jamaat-e-Islami saying the counsel is opposing his own petition.
Meanwhile, talking to the media persons outside Supreme Court, Minister for Defense Khawaja Asif said we are ready for any kind of accountability but the PTI should also offer itself for accountability. He said the PTI should explain before the ECP the money trail of its foreign funding. He said the party should satisfy as to where it has diverted the money of donations.
The Minister said the prime minister and his children are explaining before the apex court their twenty to twenty five old year financial transactions with evidence. He said this is being done as we are answerable to the nation and the Supreme Court.
He, however, said that the double standards of the PTI stand exposed before the masses.
In last hearing on Friday, JI’s counsel presented evidence before the court. In his remarks, Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh said the case cannot built on mere assumptions and presumptions. He asked the counsel of Jamaat-e-Islami to present evidence in support of his allegations.
When the counsel referred the bench to Article 248 of the constitution, the bench said the prime minister has not sought immunity under the article.
