Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that the dream of upgrading the railways stations of Pakistan Railways has started to materialize.
He said that the new railway station at Raiwind will facilitate thousands of the devotees who come to attend congregation of Tablighi Jammat.
He said that Raiwind Railway station lies on the main railway track, route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project and this railway track is being upgraded under CPEC, and three hundred and fifty Chinese Engineers are working on it.
He said that after the up-gradation of the railway track, trains will be operated at the speed of one hundred and sixty Kilometer/Hour.
Saad Rafique said that now condition of railways is far better than that of 2013.
He said that historic steps have been taken to modernize railways and its systems.
He said that pensioners of Pakistan railways are now getting pension through online system.
He said that the Pakistan Railways has launched the e-ticketing system in an effort to facilitate passengers in booking their seats from anywhere in the country.
He said that the online system has been introduced for forty-eight (48) trains.
He said that ninety percent of the land record of Pakistan Railways has been computerized.
The Minister said that all out efforts are being made to make Railways profit oriented department and loss is being reduced every year.
He said that in 2013 losses were thirty-two billion rupees, which now has been reduced to twenty-seven billion rupees.
He said that new hopper wagons are being run for the fast transportation of coal for Sahiwal Coal Power Plant.
He said that the recently occurred railway accidents were mostly due to the human error.
