It seems like clash of ‘titans’ will not end in Bollywood. After witnessing a clash between Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, 2017 get ready to see yet another face-off this August at the ticket window.
Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar is all set to take on Shah Rukh Khan as he has announced the release of his film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha to be August 11. SRK’s yet-to-be-titled film with Anushka Sharma has been scheduled for a release on the same date.
While SRK’s film’s release date was announced when Salman Khan shared the first look of the film, last year, Akshay’s movie’s release has been confirmed today by the makers.
Initially, Toilet Ek Prem Katha was scheduled to release on June 2, and Akshay’s other film Crack was scheduled to hit the screens on Independence Day. But due to certain reasons, Crack got pushed and hence Akshay and his team decided to arrive with Toilet: Ek Prem Katha on August 11, given that it is an extended weekend.
Interestingly, this will be the first head-on collision between SRK and Akshay Kumar at the box office. In 2012, Khan and Kumar’s Chennai Express and Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobaara were slated to release on the same day.
However, the makers of Akshay’s movie pushed their release by a week, in order to avoid the clash. In terms of the box office numbers, Chennai Express performed exceptionally well, derailing the Akshay Kumar film.
