ANKARA: The Dutch embassy in Ankara and consulate in Istanbul have been completely sealed off for security reasons, as tensions soar between Turkey and the Netherlands.
According to Turkish foreign ministry sources, the residences of the embassy’s charge d’affaires and the chief consul were also subjected to the same treatment.
The move comes after the Dutch authorities refused to let Turkish Ministers address rallies in the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, thousands of Turkish demonstrators gathered outside the Turkish consulate in the Dutch city of Rotterdam today, after the police stopped the Turkish family minister’s convoy near Turkish consulate, preventing her from entering the building.
The Police erected metal barriers to keep the demonstrators away from the consulate as the crowd grew with more pro-Turkish protesters arriving from Germany.
