ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court reverted arrest warrants of Chairman National Database and Registration Authority, (NADRA) after giving assurance of his appearance before the bench on next hearing of the case.
Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi, on Wednesday issued bail able arrest warrants of the Chairman NADRA over no appearance in contempt of court proceedings against him which was later reverted after submitting reason behind non appearance.
In 2010, the IHC directed chairman NADRA to ensure access to the Biometric System to FIA and police to examine revenue record but it was not obeyed yet subsequently Waqas Malik, former Secretary IHC Bar Association moved contempt of court against Chairman.
Malik alleged that even passing so many years NADRA authorities not ready to comply court orders which came under the contempt of court proceeding.
During the course of proceedings, the court asked about Chairman and it was informed the bench that he was absent from the court on which the Justice Qureshi issued bail able arrest warrants of the Chairman.
Before it was too late, Chairman along with his counsel appeared before the bench and apprised that due some engagements he could not appear before the court on time and tendered his unconditional apology.
The court accepted the admission of guilt of the Chairman and directed to make sure his presence on next hearing and adjourned the case till March 3.—APP
