All administrative and security arrangements have been made for the 6th population and housing census starting from Wednesday (15th March) nationwide, said Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday.
Addressing a joint news conference in Islamabad along with Director General Inter Services Public Relations, Major General Asif Ghafoor and Chief Census Commissioner Asif Bajwa, the info minister stated that the census conducted in two phases will completed till 25th May of this year, adding that the first phase starting from Wednesday will conclude on April the 15th.
While the second phase will start from 25th April ending on 25th May.
18.5 billion rupees have been allocated for the census, while a total 1, 18,918 enumerators will perform duty during the census assisted by personnel of Pakistan army, ensured Maryam.
Minister of State ensured that all the enumerators are government employees and have been fully trained.
She said that during the door-to-door house listing and population count the profiling of the transgenders and disable persons will be included.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that after 25th May provisional lists will be published including number of males and females and rural and urban population.
Geographic Information System technology will be used during the demographic profiling, said Maryam.
Answering a question, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that there will be punishment of six months and 50,000 rupees fine if wrong information is provided by anybody during the drive.
Director General ISPR, Major General Asif Ghafoor said that two hundred thousand personnel of Pakistan Army will assist the census process.
He said one solider will be deputed with each numerator to ensure smooth and transparent counting in all 168000 blocks.
To a question she said that a Help Line 0800-57574 has been set up for any kind of information or report regarding the census process.
