ISLAMABAD: Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousuf has said that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) should be given clearance to block websites containing blasphemous contents.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Thursday, he said that the ministry received 8670 letters as complaints against the appearance of blasphemous contents on the social media. He said that Pakistan telecommunication Authority was accordingly informed about this.
He said that action has been taken against 700 websites containing objectionable contents and out of these 565 have been blocked. He said that a cell is also working in the ministry to address the issue of objectionable contents on the internet.—Radio Pakistan
