Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notice to Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) for non completion of the process for the election of party’s new President within the stipulated time frame.
ECP has asked Ahsan Iqbal to appear in person or through a counsel on 3rd of next month.
The ECP on August 8 had directed PML-N to appoint a new president of the party after Nawaz Sharif was ousted by ECP as an Member of National Assembly (MNA) on July 28.
It had said the party needs to appoint a new president and then inform the ECP of the same.
Nawaz Sharif stepped down as the party president after a Supreme Court issued its verdict on Panama papers issue.
