ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid on Wednesday said that India and terrorist organizations were behind campaign against Pakistan in Geneva.
Giving a policy statement in the Senate, he said that Swiss Ambassador was summoned by the Foreign Office and informed about violation of international law, UN Charter and Security Council resolutions as the Swiss land was being used against sovereign country.
He said that posters against Pakistan were sponsored by terrorists organizations and India. The minister said that Balochistan Liberation Army was a listed terrorist organization and reservations of Pakistan was conveyed to Ambassador of Switzerland.
Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani in his remarks said that Pakistan mostly had to face allegations but Switzerland was allowing use of its soil for terrorism in Pakistan.
He said that Foreign Office should take strong steps as no one could be allowed to export terrorism and violate international laws.
Meanwhile, the House took up a Calling Attention about the pending approval of 7500 sanctioned new posts for FATA which had already been approved by the FATA Secretariat and the Ministry of SAFRON.
Responding to the Calling Attention Notice, Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid said that requirements about new posts in FATA Secretariat had not been worked out so far. He said that officials of SAFRON Division and FATA Secretariat should sit together to work out the solution on the issue.
However, Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani referred the matter to the relevant committee of the House.
The house took another Calling Attention Notice about the proposed installation of spying equipment on the roof of under construction eight storey building of the US Embassy in Islamabad, the construction of which had been started without obtaining NOC.
State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry responded to it and said that he had personally seen files and no building was being constructed in violation of approved plan of CDA or without NOC.
The Chairman also admitted an adjournment motion for debate in later sitting which was regarding reconstitution of Council of Common Interests and its notification issued by the Prime Minister rather than the President.
Chairman Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination, Senator Saud Majeed moved a motion under sub-rule (1) of rule 194 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012 to extend the time for presentation of report of the Committee on a Calling Attention Notice for 30 working days with effect from October 9, 2017.
This Calling Attention Notice was regarding the granting of equivalence certificates to O and A level students by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC).
The House discussed a motion under Rule 60 regarding a matter of point of public importance arising out of the answer to starred question No 8 replied on August 22, 2017.
It was regarding contradictions between the recommendations of the inquiry committee and their implementation as claimed in the reply in the case of malpractices in Aero Medical Department of Civil Aviation Authority.
The Chair in consultation with the Leader of the House and the Opposition Leader decided to take the issue in the House for providing wrong information and to issue notices to Secretary Aviation Division DG Civil Aviation.—APP
