LODHRAN: By election in NA-154 Lodhran-I is underway. The seat went vacant when Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Jahangir Tareen, Aaj News reported.
Overall ten candidates are contesting the by election. However, tough contest is expected among PPP candidate Mirza Muhammad Ali Baig, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Ali Khan Tareen and PML-N’s candidate Muhammad Iqbal Shah.
Around 4000 police and military personnel have been deployed in the constituency as a preemptive measure to avoid any misconduct.
The polling is underway and will continue till five in the evening with out any break.
According to returning officer, four hundred and thirty one thousand voters will cast their votes in the by-election.
Foolproof security arrangements have been made for holding free and fair by-election.
