SYDNEY: Uncapped fast bowler Michael Neser has replaced Josh Hazlewood in the Australia squad for next month’s five-match one-day international series against England.
Hazlewood withdrew Monday with a back injury.
Fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins had already been ruled out because of injuries.
Neser was the leading wicket-taker for Queensland in Australia’s domestic One Day Cup last season. He will join the squad which left for England on Monday.
Of the remaining quicks, only Kane Richardson with 15 matches has played more than five one-day internationals for Australia. Andrew Tye has played four, Billy Stanlake two and Andrew Tye one.
The first match of the series will be played at The Oval on June 13.—AP
