ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim Leagues veteran leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Friday has challenged the rejection of his nomination papers from National Assembly (NA) constituency-53, Aaj News reported.
On last Tuesday, former premier’s nomination papers along with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan were dismissed by the returning officer (RO). According to RO, ex-PM’s failed to mention the development work in his previous constituency.
Khaqan’s lawyer Tahir Mahmood Abbasi filed the appeal in the election tribunal today pleading for dismissal of the RO’s decision. He added that the former premier did not excluded the required information on purpose and is ready to rectify the mistake.
As per the Election Commission of Pakistan schedule, today is the last day to file appeals against decisions of the ROs.
