Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair has said that K-IV is one of the most important projects for Karachi that will provide 650 million gallons of water per day to the city after its completion.
He was addressing a meeting at the Governor House in Karachi today to review the pace of work on K-IV project.
The Governor said that steady increase in the population of the city has further enhanced the importance of the project to fulfill the daily requirement of water to the city.
He said the ongoing project will be completed in three phases. He said the city will get 260 million gallons of water per day after the completion of first phase while the second phase will add another 260 million gallons to the supply. He said the third phase will add the remaining 130 million gallons to the water supply of the city resolving the issue of water shortage to a large extent.
The Governor was of the view that we must also put our focus to the desalination of sea water to fulfill the water requirement of the ever growing population of the city.
He said we must also start campaign for efficient use of water as Pakistan is also included among the countries that could are facing water shortage and the issue could get worse in the coming years.
