ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s legal counsel Khawaja Haris on Monday rescued himself from representing ousted-PM and family in the corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Aaj News reported.
As the hearing commenced, Haris expressed inability to continue to work citing different reasons. He said his stance has not been given due consideration by the Supreme Court. Besides, it was dictated to hold hearings on weekends.
In a written application, Khawaja Haris requested the court for withdrawal of his paper of attorney (wakalatnama). To this the accountability judge asked former premier if he would like to hire another lawyer or would he pursue Haris to continue with the trial.
The former PM then requested the court to adjourn the hearing for few days as he needs time to consult over his legal representation in the matter.
The hearing of Al-Azizia reference was then adjourned for an indefinite period. The court, however, will hear the Avenfield reference on June 12.
