ISLAMABAD: Spokesperson Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Altaf Ahmed on Wednesday said ECP is doing all possible efforts to conduct peaceful election in the country.
In an interview with Radio Pakistan he mentioned that , “8300 SMS service is a revolutionary step taken by ECP to facilitate and ease the general voters and maximize the turnover. The voters can obtain all the required polling detail by simply sending their NIC number to 8300.
Monitoring committees are formed and code of conduct has been issued to security agencies, he added.
He further urged it is responsibility of the political leaders and general public to cooperate with ECP by following the instructions for peaceful election and avoid any unfortunate incident.
Spokesperson also warned, the candidate should inform the local administration and security agencies before conducting any political gathering or corner meetings.
The frequent violation of code of conduct can lead to the disqualification of the candidate, he added.
Former Chairman ECP Kanwar Dilshad said, the Election Commission of Pakistan has completed all necessary arrangements for holding free, fair and transparent election.
The code of conduct has already been issued to the concerned departments including media, PEMRA, security agencies and political parties, he said.
Kanwar Dilshad said ECP has taken serious steps in order to check and monitor the election campaigns of political parties.
The international media including EU is observing and 50000 cards have been issued to civil society for monitoring and observing the election, he highlighted.
ECP has issued code of conduct for PEMRA to monitor political advertisements and keep strict eyes on the contents being aired on national television, said, adding special monitoring teams have been formed to monitor the election campaigns.
The arrangements of ECP to conduct transparent and fair election are satisfactory,” he appreciated. -APP
