Web Desk: There is no doubt that exercise can improve someone’s health but excessive of anything can be bad for anyone. People are only required to do moderate exercise in order to improve health, overdoing it can stress you out or even make you depressed, the Daily Mail reported.
The study was conducted on 1.2 million people, in which, it was found that those who did the most amount of physical activity, more than five days a week or three hours a day, exhibited mental health issue.
Moderate exercise is the best option for everyone. Even simple activities like household chores or gardening reduced depression by 10%.
According to assistant professor of psychiatry at Yale, Dr Adam Chekroud, ‘Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide, and there is an urgent need to find ways to improve mental health campaigns.”
“Exercise is associated with a lower mental health burden across people no matter their age,, race, gender, household income and education level,” he added.
“Excitingly, the specifics of the regime, like the type, duration, and frequency, played an important role in this association. We are now using this to try to … match people with a specific exercise regime that helps improve their mental health.”
