LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information & Culture Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan has said that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the provincial government has adopted the policy of austerity.
He said that unlike former rulers, government has abolished the policy of giving advertisements worth billions of rupees to the media for the sake of cheap publicity. Former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif devastated the government exchequer to the tune of billions of rupees by issuing advertisements with his pictures on them, he added.
These views were expressed by the Provincial Minister while addressing a seminar organized by Hameed Nizami Press Institute titled “New Challenges faced by Pakistan” as a chief guest. The seminar was also addressed by Prof. Dr. Ejaz Butt, Absaar Abdul Ali, Dilawar Chaudhary and Salman Ghani. Students and people from various walks of life were also present on this occasion.
Fiaz ul Hassan Chohan said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is going to IMF just to run the governmental affairs and but we assure the people that the amount of loan will not be succumbed to any corruption and loot. He said that our commitment is to strengthen the economy.
He said that the whole nation will have to adopt the habit of saving and austerity. He said the former government paralyzed the national economy by taking record international loans and the main reason of this was the habit of committing dacoity of national exchequer and corruption by N-League leadership.
The Provincial Minister for Information and Culture said that corrupt elements should be curbed for getting rid of loans as well as to strengthen the national economy by bringing back the looted money and reducing the burden of loans for which all-out resources are being utilized by the government.—INP
