Lahore: Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered to conduct forensic audit of Auqaf Department Punjab.
The order was issued by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar in Lahore on Sunday while hearing the case of collection of money from boxes placed at shrines.
The Chief Justice rejected the report submitted by Punjab Auqaf Department and sought a report after a forensic audit.
The government lawyer told the court that in 2018, Rs. 80 crores were collected from boxes, on which the Chief Justice said that this money should be used for the better facilities of the visitors.
Chief Justice questioned Director General Auqaf, about his last visit to Data Ganj Baksh, and steps he took. DG Oqaf replied, “He had gone six days ago, there are matters improving.”
