Web Desk: Trucks in Pakistan are often spotted with random images of heroes or actresses, not to forget some hilarious quotes and poetry.
But somewhere in the heart of Pakistan, things are changing. The backs of trucks are being painted with images of girls going to school.
The drivers are using trucks as bill-boards, their aim is to spread the message of equality and condemning practice like Swara, a custom where a girl is married off as punishment for a crime committed states Gulf News.
Earlier, the drivers’ trucks carried the painting of film star, but now they carry the portrait of a girl carrying a school bag and smiling.
The inscription on it is supposed to read ‘Education is the basic right of a girl. Send your daughters to school.’
According to Gulf News, a truck painter at a workshop in Peshawar suggested drivers to carry the imagery as it would help curb negative practice and they agreed.
Have a look at the some of the portrait.
Big changes always begin small. It might sound like nothing, just some random paintings at the back of trucks, but this is what will at least attempt to set things in motion.
