Actors and crew members test positive for COVID-19 while shootings continue

With the government easing on the lockdown that was imposed countrywide in the late March, cases of COVID-19 have soared up. Currently, there are approximately 52,000 confirmed cases with 1,101 deaths so far in Pakistan.

Even with the lockdown in force, shootings for drama serials, morning shows, and photoshoots didn’t stop. Actors like Saba Qamar and Ayesha Omar have been busy shooting for Youtube channel and Bulbulay respectively while different clothing brands continued shooting for summer campaigns on corona-oriented themes – raising questions like how strictly our celebrities and brands are following the isolation protocols and what kind of message they are sending out to their fans and followers.

While an argument can be made that they might be using special safe practices for everyone’s safety, being on set involves makeup, hairdos, change of clothes, and being in close proximity. Unfortunately, face masks and hand sanitizers aren’t glamorous enough to make it in front of the camera.

The results of this carelessness have started to bear results as actors Nida Yasir, Yasir Nawaz, Alizeh Shah, and fiancee Noman Sami have allegedly contracted the virus. It is being speculated that the set crew of Nida’s morning show has also tested positive for COVID-19.

Yasir and Shah had made an appearance on Nida’s show to promote their drama serial ‘Mera Dil, Mera Dushman’. They hadn’t stop shooting the serial despite government restrictions.

It’s worthy to note that Nida hasn’t been shooting her morning show for the past few days.

Twitter reactions:

Twitteratis have reacted to the news of actors testing positive while raising questions about why the shooting wasn’t stopped.

Former news anchor Rabia Anum took to Twitter to share the news:

“Morning show host with her entire Team and Husband tested positive for COVID-19. Prayers for all,” she wrote and added, “My responsibility is to not mention anyone’s name until they personally choose to announce it. It’s their privacy.”

“Nida Yasir and Yasir Nawaz along with her morning show crew have been tested positive for Corona Virus. The morning show was not stopped filming during the lockdown,” wrote one Twitter user.

“Meanwhile, the complete cast of ‘Mera Dil Mera Dushman’ appeared as a guest on Nida Yasir’s morning show ‘Good Morning Pakistan’ on ARY Digital during the prevailing virus,” wrote Anam Sikandar on Twitter and added, “Now, sources confirmed that Nida has also been tested positive for coronavirus.”
