About Aaj Kalam

Like every year, infotainment department was responsible for ‘Ramzan Transmission’ this year as well, and Rashid Mehmood, Controller Infotainment, started planning about the programming with his team since May. In a meeting Rashid Mehmood, Irfan (Ajju) and Nasir Tufail decided to record naatia and hamdia kalam with a touch of music, so that the young generation, who are not fond of listening to such genre can also enjoy it. Next step was to select artists and Ajju arranged a meeting with Muhammad Ali (Suroor band). Muhammad Ali and his work is renowned, so it was decided that 3-4 hamdia and naatia kalam will be recorded with Muhammad Ali, but later various artists were hired instead of one and the target was to record at least 10-12 kalams.

Things were shaping up like everyone wanted. The names of many music composers were considered and Shahbaz Mustafa (Soul band, early nineties) got the chance to compose music. Later Tufail Sanjrani, Zaman Taji, Amjad Sabri, Tanveer Ahmed and Afzal Sabri were also included in the list. During audio recordings many new ideas emerged which gave birth to many new kalams and thus bringing the total number of kalams to 17. The tracks got ready in a month and were taken to the studio floor where they were recorded in three days.

Our team thank all the people including our colleagues in Aaj Infotainment and Aaj TV website. Any of the negative or positive aspect of the project belongs to the whole team. The risk has been taken and hopefully hard work and efforts will be recognized.
