The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) is set to resume operations as per Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's directions after the first case of an Omicron sub-variant was detected in the country.

The first case of the Omicron sub-variant BA.2.12.1 was detected in a traveller returning from Qatar to Pakistan on Monday.

The NIH “strongly recommended” booster shots for those who may have not gotten them yet as “the best preventive measure (besides mask-wearing at crowded places) is the Covid-19 vaccination.”

The NCOC was disbanded on March 31 after covid indicators showed downwards trends.
