LAHORE: A Lahore’s special court on Saturday extended the interim bail of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz, till May 28 in an Rs16 billion money laundering case against them and adjourned the hearing of the case.

The court headed by judge Aijaz Hasan has sought further arguments on the interim bail at the next hearing of the case. It issued arrest warrants for Salman Shehbaz, Tahir Naqvi, and Malik Masood.

PML-N counsel Amjad Parvez assured the court of completing the arguments at the next hearing of the case.

The Federal Investigation Agency had booked PM Shehbaz and his sons, Hamza and Suleman, in November 2020 under sections 419, 420, 468, 471, 34 and 109 of Prevention of Corruption Act and r/w 3/4 of Anti Money Laundering Act. Suleman Shehbaz is absconding in the UK. The special court had on Jan 27 granted pre-arrest bail to Shehbaz and Hamza in the case.

PM Shehbaz has skipped the previous four hearings of the case after seeking an exemption.
