Hyderabad milk prices soar after third hike in fuel prices

Govt fails to implement price control list, say people at markets

Dairy wholesalers in Hyderabad have increased the price of milk by Rs20 per litre after the third hike in petroleum prices within less than a month, reported Aaj News on Saturday.

Milk is being sold at Rs160 per litre, which is 40 rupees higher than the government rate of Rs120.

Traders in Karachi had increased milk prices even more to Rs170 per litre, citing the hike in fuel charges.

The government has increased price of petrol thrice within a month, Rs30 twice and Rs24 third time. This has led to an unprecedented inflation.

The traders had increased Rs20 per litre price of milk a month ago, making it to Rs140 per litre. However, the government did not take any measures to implement prices list in the market.
