WASHINGTON : Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said his meeting with President, George Bush held on Monday was excellent during which he expressed United States support for democracy.
"It was excellent. He (Bush) expressed support for democracy and respect for sovereignty of Pakistan," Gilani said in reply to a question during a brief chat with Pakistani media. The prime minister visited the media center amidst a busy schedule. "I have come here to say hello to you," he said as he shook hands with journalists working at the Media Center at Willard International Hotel.
Minister for Information Sherry Rehman and Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani had accompanied the prime minister. Prime Minister Gilani and President Bush discussed cooperation in wide ranging areas during their meeting at the White House.
The two countries reaffirmed their strategic partnership as Washington expressed its commitment to extend cooperation to Pakistan in a number of areas.
