NAWABSHAH: Doctors and other staff who remained absent from duties and the elements selling medicines outside of Peoples Medical Hospital would be strictly dealt with severe punishment.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Soho warned while addressing a meeting here Saturday.
He said that 900 bed hospital is catering medical assistance not only to patients of District Shaheed Benazirabad but also to patients coming from Sanghar, Naushehro Feroze, Matiari and even Khairpur districts.
He said that complaints have been received that some doctors of the hospital were receiving salaries there but working at Karachi, Hyderabad, Islamabad and even abroad while some other doctors prefer to work at private medical centers and clinics during duty hours.
The Deputy Commissioner said that action would be taken against absent doctors and staff.
The DC said that government was spending huge amount on provision of medicines to patients but found that being sold at medical stores.
Various teams have been constituted comprising Deputy Commissioner, Vice Chancellor and Medical Superintendent to check the attendance of the staff and doctors and leakage of hospital medicines, he said adding that these teams would conduct raids and persons involved would not be spared.
Encroachments in the hospital premises were another menace and concerned assistant commissioner has been assigned for its removal.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor Peoples Medical University Dr Azam Hussain Yousifani, Medical Superintendent Dr Zulfiqar Siyal, Additional MS Dr Abdul Ghani Brohi, ADC Khursheed Alam, Assistant Commissioner Saleemuddin Memon and other district officials.
