NAUSHAHARO FEROZE: The Assistant Director National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Abid Hussain has announced that Computerized National Identity Cards would be issued to trans-genders free of cost in the district.
A meeting of District Implementation Committee was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner and the Chairman Dr. Waseem Ali here on Wednesday.
According to a handout issued here by the District Information Office, NADRA’s Assistant Director informed the meeting that as per directives of honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan, first time national Identity Cards would be issued to trans-genders free of cost and there would be no need of any medical certificate.
He told the meeting that social welfare department was authorized to verify identity of the trans-genders while their Guru would be the head of all the group of trans-gender persons.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the NADRA authorities to issue all trans-genders Computerized National Identity Cards after completing all required formalities without any delay.
He also directed the Deputy Director Social Welfare department to resolve all issues of the trans-genders.
The Senior Superintendent of Police Tarique Willayat, the Additional Deputy Commissioners Fayaz Hussain Rahojo, Tashfeen Alam, Sayed Mudassar Hussain Shah, representatives of trans-genders Afzal Shah alias Babli and Shahid Hussain alias Laila were attended the meeting.—APP
