Following the decision by Sindh High Court, the Sindh government of Pakistan People's Party has decided to challenge the Sindh High Court verdict in Supreme Court of Pakistan. Advocate General Sindh Khalid Javed on Monday said Sindh government will file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the decision. He said it will be impossible to hold local bodies' elections as per schedule on old delimitations.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has also announced that his government will move the apex court. Talking to media in Sukkur ‚ he said that law experts would be consulted on the decision of court. Sindh Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Sikandar Mandhro, said that Sindh government will review the court's decision once it is in its hands. "Now it is up to the Election Commission as to whether or not it approaches the Apex Court for the extension in the date of election," he said.

The polls are scheduled to be held in Sindh on January 18. Earlier, the holding of local bodies elections in Sindh may stay in uncertainty as Sindh government decided to challenge Sindh High Court's ruling declaring amendments to Sindh Local Government act unconstitutional.
