KARACHI: District administration has fined 82 shopkeepers and fine of Rs 96,500 were imposed for overcharging and violating officially approved price list.

According to a statement issued here on Tuesday, the actions against profiteers were taken in the areas including Saddar, Garden, Orangi, Airport, Gulberg, North Nazimabad and New Karachi.

During crackdown, the district administration has fined three bakers, three meat vendors, 30 chicken sellers, six food items grocers, nine vegetable sellers, 8 fruit sellers and 23 milk sellers.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi has said that an operation against profiteering is underway in the city by the Karachi Divisional and districts administrations.
