چین کےصوبے سیچوان میں ماہرین کو دنیا میں  پائے جانے والے مچھروں میں اب تک کے سب سے بڑے مچھر ملے ہیں۔

ان مچھروں کے سائز کا اندازہ آپ اس بات سے لگا لیں کہ ان کے  پروں کا پھیلاؤ 11.15 سینٹی میٹر ہے۔

یہ مچھر سب سے پہلے 1876 میں جاپان سے برطانوی ماہر حشریات جان اوباڈا ویسٹ وڈ کو ملے تھے۔ انہوں نے ہی ان کا نام Holorusia mikado رکھا تھا۔

اس قسم کے مچھروں کے پروں کا پھیلاؤ عام طور پر 8 سینٹی میٹر ہوتا ہے۔ یہ مچھر انسانی خون کی بجائے شہد نبات یا نیکٹر پر گزارہ کرتے ہیں۔ ان مچھروں کا دوران حیات چند دن ہوتا ہے۔

زہاؤ نے بتایا کہ دنیا میں مچھروں کی ہزاروں اقسام ہوتی ہیں جن میں سے صرف 100 قسم کے مچھر انسانی خون پیتے ہیں یا انسانوں کے لیے مشکلات کھڑی کرتے ہیں۔

یہ مچھر چینگڈو کے پہاڑی علاقوں میں 2200 میٹر سے کم بلندی پر پائے جاتے ہیں۔
